Early One Morning

The other night I just couldn't sleep - mainly due to a hacking cough - so I found myself in the garden at 5.30am. Almost unheard of for me! The sun was just rising and there was a special atmosphere among the flowers. Here are the snaps...

  1. Garden's looking really lovely Martin! Hope you're feeling better :) There's something special about about going out in the garden on an early summer morning, tranquil and the lighting seems always right.

  2. What a beautiful garden you have. The morning I think is always the best time to be in them.

  5. The last two photos are of a perrenial foxglove, I'm nit sure which variety as my mum grew them from seed a couple of years ago and gave me some of her stock. The leaves are shiny rather than hairy like biennial digitalis, and they don't die back, they form a permanent rosette. Rather lovely aren't they!

  6. Could it be the rusty foxglove Digitalis ferruginea?Your garden looks stunning in the early morning light. For me it's often the best time to be in the garden and to photograph it.
