Wakehurst Take Two!

After being drenched at Wakehurst Place two weeks ago (see last post) we chose a much better day to visit today - the sun was shining and it wasn't too cold either. The gardens were busy, many admiring the display of cyclamen near the entrance:

A few early rhododendrons were making an effort:

And camellias were looking good:

This hardy little fellow was taking afternoon tea in the sunshine:

Daphnes were also in bloom, but photographs don't do them justice, the scent is sublime. Hence my special scratch and sniff photo below - try it, it really works!!!

  2. Hi Martin, the cyclamen patches are truly beautiul, but what makes them really outstanding to look at is that they are surrounded by these old majestic trees. To you know what variety the trees are? I love the camellia bush in the fifth photo. What a prolific bloomer it is. And the single blooms are so lovely. Thanks for this wonderful post!

  3. Martin, the great show of Cyclamen was enough to cheer me up on a Winters day, and then you gave us those fantastic Camellias.

  4. Martin I am so bowled over by the sheet of cyclamens that I cannot even begin to think of the camellias. Wonderful images indeed. AKA Catharine Howard Gardens
